There is created a Planning Commission for the City, which shall be known as the Desert Hot Springs Planning Commission.

The Planning Commission shall have the powers and duties set forth in the City’s zoning ordinance, in addition to any other authority prescribed by State and local laws or regulations.

The Planning Commission shall adopt rules for the transaction of its business and shall keep a written record of its resolutions, transactions, findings and determinations, which record shall be a public record.

A. 
Regular Meetings. The regular meetings of the Planning Commission shall be held at 6:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. If a regular meeting falls on a holiday, such regular meeting shall be held on the next business day.
B. 
Special Meetings. A special meeting may be called at any time by the Chairperson of the Planning Commission or by a majority of the members of the Planning Commission, by delivering personally or by mail written notice to each member of the Planning Commission and to each local newspaper of general circulation, radio or television station requesting notice in writing. Such notice shall be delivered personally or by mail at least 24 hours before the time of such meeting as specified in the notice. The call and notice shall specify the time and place of the special meeting and the business to be transacted. No other business shall be considered at such meetings by the Planning Commission. Such written notice may be dispensed with as to any member who, at or prior to the time the meeting convenes, files with the Clerk or Secretary of the Planning Commission, a written waiver of notice. Such waiver may be given by telegram. Such written notice may also be dispensed with as to any member who is actually present at the meeting at the time it convenes.

Each member of the Planning Commission shall receive a salary in the amount of $100 per any officially convened Planning Commission meeting that they attend.
