It shall be unlawful for any person to carry the body of any deceased person to any of the cemeteries or burying grounds within the city, or for the parks and recreation director, or other person in charge of such cemetery or burying ground to receive the body of any deceased person, unless accompanied by a burial permit, properly signed and certified by the city clerk or his deputy.

Before the burial permit shall be issued, the applicant therefore shall pay the following fees:
(a) If the person to be buried is under the age of 6 years, the fee shall be:
(1) Weekday

(2) Weekend
$480.00
(3) Holiday/Holiday Weekend

(b) If the person to be buried is of the age of 6 years and over, the fee shall be:
(1) Weekday
$600.00
(2) Weekend
$990.00
(3) Holiday/Holiday Weekend

(c) If the person to be buried has been cremated, the fee shall be:
(1) Weekday

(2) Weekend

(d) If the person to be buried is going to be placed in a crypt, mausoleum the fee shall be:

(e) This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after December 20, 2021.

No burial permit shall be issued for the burial of any deceased person in any cemetery or burial grounds within the city, unless the person owning such cemetery or burial grounds, or exercising or having charge and control of such cemetery or burial grounds, shall have complied with all the provisions of this Chapter.

Upon application and the payment of a fee required by Section 7-26 to the city clerk, for the use and benefit of the city, it shall be the duty of the city clerk to issue to the applicant a burial permit which shall be given a number, and which shall specify what cemetery or burial ground, the section, lot and grave number, the deceased person is to be buried in, giving the applicant one (1) copy of such permit to be delivered to the director of the parks and recreation department and keeping one (1) copy for the records of the city. After issuing such permit, it shall be the duty of the city clerk to place in the proper place, upon the plat in his office the number of the permit and the name of the deceased person.
