(a)
Definition.
For purposes of this division, "residential
code" shall mean the 2021 International Residential Code (sometimes
referred to as IRC), including any and all amendments, revisions or
revised additions to the 2021 International Residential Code.
(b)
Adoption.
In conformance with V.T.C.A., Local Government
Code, chapter 214, subchapter G, sections 214.211 through 214.214,
the 2021 International Residential Code, including appendices A, B,
C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U and AQ, is
hereafter adopted as the municipal residential code for the city.
The 2021 International Residential Code shall apply to all construction,
alteration, movement, enlargement, replacement, repair, equipment,
location, removal and demolition of detached one- and two-family dwellings
and multiple single-family dwellings (townhouses) not more than three
stories in height with separate means of egress as therein provided
in the city. The city council may establish procedures to adopt local
amendments to the International Residential Code and for the administration
and enforcement of the International Residential Code. The International
Residential Code shall not apply to the installation and maintenance
of electrical wiring and related components.

Copies on file.
Copies of the 2021 International Residential
Code will be maintained on file in the office of the planning and
development department and may be viewed online at https://codes.iccsafe.org/codes/i-codes/2021-icode, and the provisions thereof shall be controlling as set out herein
in the construction of all one- and two-family dwellings and townhouses.
