All electrical work, including the placing of wires and other equipment, shall conform to Ch. SPS 316 and it successors, Wis. Adm. Code, and all amendments hereto, which is hereby by reference made a part of this chapter. A copy of such code shall be kept on file in the office of the Building Inspector.

No electrical work of any kind shall be installed or altered without first securing a permit therefor from the Building Inspector. The application for such permit shall be on a form furnished by the Building Inspector and shall state clearly the work planned, alterations to be made and equipment and materials to be used. All later deviations from such plan must be submitted to and approved by the Building Inspector.

All electrical work shall be done only by an electrician licensed by the State Department of Safety and Professional Services, except that a property owner may make repairs or installations in a single-family building owned and occupied by him as his home, provided that a permit is issued and the work is done in compliance with the provisions of this chapter.

Upon completion of the electrical work on any premises, the person doing such work shall notify the Building Inspector before such work is covered up, and the Building Inspector shall at once inspect the work. No person shall use or permit to be used any electrical work until it has been inspected and approved by the Building Inspector, except for temporary, emergency use.
Whenever the Building Inspector shall find wires or equipment in a dangerous condition or so placed as to interfere with the work of the Fire Department, he may order the persons using or operating them to place them in a safe and noninterfering condition within 48 hours, and on failure to comply with his order or directions, the Building Inspector shall have the authority to order these wires disconnected. Failure to comply with these orders shall constitute a violation of this chapter. Any person who shall resist or obstruct any lawful exercise of authority by the Building Inspector shall be subject to the penalty provided in this chapter.
The Building Inspector shall have the power to enter any building or premises at any reasonable hour in the discharge of his duties. He shall also have the power to enter any building used in whole or in part for the purpose of public assemblage when occupied by the public or at any time in order to examine electrical equipment in such building.
