[Amended at time of adoption of Code (see Ch. 1, General Provisions, Art. I)]
A motor vehicle parked in the limits of the Village at any time may, by order of the Chief of Police, be immobilized in such a manner as to prevent its operation if there are three or more outstanding or otherwise unsettled parking violation notices against the owner of such motor vehicle.
[Amended at time of adoption of Code (see Ch. 1, General Provisions, Art. I)]
In order to release the immobilization device, the person has up to 48 hours to make payment of all parking fines and penalties plus the immobilization fine of $50. After 48 hours, if the owner has not contacted the Lake Placid Police Department or made arrangements for release of the immobilization device, the vehicle will be towed, incurring additional towing and storage costs. Any vehicle towed shall not be released until all fines and penalties, towing fee and immobilization fine are paid. Payment may be made at the Lake Placid Police Department or to the Village of Lake Placid Court Clerk.
The Police Department shall arrange for the removal and storage of such vehicle in a suitable place at the expense of said owner. Such owner or person in charge of the vehicle may redeem the vehicle upon payment to the towing agency of the amount incurred in effecting such removal and will also be charged a $10-a-day storage fee for every day after the first seven days.
It shall be the duty of the Police Department to ascertain, to the extent possible, the owner of the vehicle or person having charge of same and to notify him of the removal and disposition of such vehicle and of the amount which will be required to redeem same.
